The 420 AISI Stainless Steel has been hardened to 55 on the Rockwell scale. THe blades seem to be tough, When used regularly, the blade requires routine sharpening. Does anyone have any experience with these knives? Does their RWL-34 steel hold an edge longer?
I'm open to experiences and opinions.
I have been eyeing some of the Mikov knives.

I am a big fan of Mikov knives, I have a few of them, they are made very well, a few years back I got a few of the Mikov kits, and made them, the top bolster pin was a little hard to do but they did work, as for the steel, mine are 440, and mine are VERY SHARP.

I have two of the 420 SS versions, one in stag the other horn.
The steel is good enough for most routine cutting chores, it's not a hunting or box cutting knife and the blade is thick behind the edge.
But it sharpens easily and the edge can be re-profiled.
Pros:
- Excellent build quality.
- ABS scaled versions are relatively inexpensive
- Iconic cold war era design
- Two replaceable kick springs that fire hard.
- Newer versions are available with a pocket clip.
Cons:
- A little on the heavy side, clipless versions are not easily carried in the pocket.
- Factory edge is a little obtuse.

Agree with the previous posts. We had a Mikov forum knife here some years ago. They are scaled in nice horn, have a "Brotherhood of Blades" etch and filework which some folks like. Anyone else here have one?

I'm surprised that EVERYONE's hand hasn't gone up by now!
I bought several of the basic model (synthetic black handle)
back when they cost $40 each.
