I've seen them called both Calibro and Extractor - but also for levers.

As I'm sure you did, Mike,I looked around quite awhile this morning and couldn't find it referenced as anything except a shot shell puller-- Not that I found much except a few pictures.

Hey portlandmike! Technically, I should slip a button knife into the photo to make it street-legal for this thread.... hopefully the moderators will forgive this mildly tangential posting..... Attached are photos of an antique brass paperweight that I purchased in 1978. At the time, I was told that it had belonged to a Civil War prison guard. It was in a box with other items such as a sawed-off shotgun, leg irons, etc...... but my eyes were glued to this and I had to have it. It was expensive and at the time I was pretty young and couldn't pay for it all at once, so the seller let me pay half up front and the rest a week or two later. Unfortunately there are no markings at all. It may well be from the 1800s, when people were significantly smaller, because I can't fit the middle knuckles of my fingers through the holes. The fingertip rests in the palm lead me to believe that this may well have been custom-made for a specific individual. I've never seen another one like it; and all these years later, I still have it.

I believe the Calibro is it's own pattern, not sure on the traditional Italian w/shell puller.
