Really $58,000.
I think it was WC Fields said something like there’s a sucker born everyday.

I lived in London in 1955. Went to a school housed in a 5 or 6 story victorian era town house. Every week a woman who lived on one of the top floors (that is where the servants lived back in the day) would mix up a batch of ink and fill all the inkwells in all the classrooms using an old teapot. She was really old and creepy. Never saw her at any other time.

I got the hang of filling a fountain pen pretty quick as to not do so could result in corporal punishment. Caning was big back then. The whole thing was like a Charles Dickens immersion.....

Anyway, I think I can find better uses for that kind of money. Fountain pen collectors share many attributes with knife collectors. Takes all kinds, and someone with lots of spare $$$ will go for it.
