Ha ha I bet he does

All I meant was what Italian knife makers make the closest quality to the old ones :)

Walter does not make knives. He contracts with makers such as Frank B, Renzo P and others to make pieces to his specification. They are marked with his one of his tang stamps including the Cat and Latama. Walter then must market and sell them. He does well at this.

As to the original question, Renzo Pacotto probably made the best modern Italian stilettos, but I don't know if he is retired or not. He was not a volume producer, more of a semi-custom, limited run operation. He is getting up there in age. So is Frank B, but the family continues to produce high end stilettos. The AGA family probably makes the most interesting lines of knives, and the quality is generally quite good.

Agreed, Renzo P does make the best. As far as I know he hasn’t made any recently. Preowned one are hard to find and pretty expensive. When he does make any they are very limited runs. But to buy a quality newItalian Walts is best

For years I've seen knives selling for hundreds and thousands that were made the same way, hollow bolsters, pins and thin liners.

I have a $70 Armando Beltrame Stiletto that is flawless but not practical for carry because of above description. I have a $50 Taiwanese made AKC Extreme Ace auto that's worthy of carry because it's solid. Different design is what it is.

When I got my AGA Campolin Zero made by Campolin Angelo I saw a well made and solid knife. I mean solid in a different way, solid bolsters, thick liners and bolts. Very good steel for the blade and dual spring that opens with authority. It even has some heft to it.

I saw and have a modern stiletto and they're here to stay. :D

All of the stilettos had/have hollow bolsters. This is not a weak point-nor are the pins.
Your Taiwan knife is not an AKC. It's a counterfeit.

I don't know about that. On the box it says Designed and Engineered in Italy. Made in Taiwan.
