Dear y'all,

I'd love to have some more info on my dad's old knife. My dad passed away quite recently and my mom gave me his old 1960s "Puch" moped and this old pocket knife. As a kid I wasn't even allowed to lóok at it, so it was quite an obsession for me back in the day. And now I own it,... and I feel blessed for it. I cleaned it a bit and it still operates smoothly and is sharp as f*ck. (Had quite the private chuckle when I cut myself cleaning it, giving a "you were right dad" nod to the sky).

It's stamped Hubertus, its a lever lock, the rest is quite clear in the pictures. I found me a lot on the interwebz: lots about german Solinger knives and a certain Johnny Cade, but nothing about its age or its worth (not selling it btw). Can anyone help me?

Me and my dad hail from Holland and all I know he got it as a youngster, way back in the fifties/sixties, when carrying switchblades was still legal in the Netherlands .

Many thanks in advance!

Sorry about your dad. Nice old shell puller and great history of it. Someone will be along soon and fill you in on it's approximate value. Welcome to the forum.

It’s a very early Hubertus. It’s model #4001 Hh

Those with an actual tang stamp punched into the steel are the earlier models. Any with the etch lengthwise on the blade itself are more recent models. I have a catalog page I can post from a 1950s Hubertus catalog I found.

This one is very collectible. Sorry to hear about your dad.

Sorry to read about your dad. I believe the tang stamped Hubies were made from 1955 - 1972. After that, the blades were etched.

That might be the best Hubertus I've ever seen.
