Walts new custom jigged bone in amber

Post by picklocksrock »

I hope another one of those comes out again. I was waiting for the Rams horn. These customs Walt’s been carrying on his site look so nice!

They are very nice. Wasn't sure why jigged bone was that price? I guess the jigged bone is more expensive. Is it bone that someone worked to make it look like that?

I’m not sure, I missed that boat. I want one or at least similar. I’m saving this time for when Walt puts out some more of the customs! I’m not sure Thom, but I think it’s high grade bone that was meticulously hand crafted. That amber jigged bone knife sold almost as soon as it went up! As did the two camel bone ones.

Jigged bone is beautifully workedand incised cow ,or giraffe (Animal ) bone and then dyed to obtain the required colour.
It can be hard to do .
It can look stunning and some of my favourite examples of it are on the french leverlock knives from the 50s and 60s.
I took these shots from 'Autoknifes' stunning collection to show how nice it can look .
I hope you dont mind Ken ...

I'm pretty sure the jigged bone was hand cut and installed on the knife by Tank.

Thanks for the answer. Sounds labor intensive, hence the price.
