Stiletto Handles
Question for the experts out there. I have alot of Italian stilettos, some have handles with squared edges and others are rounded. Is this an age indicator or just the preference of the maker..
One more question, is nickle still being used for bolsters on the Italian stilettos. I have a few with nickle bolsters, but the majority is stainless steal or brass, and even one in black teflon, i think its teflon...

Nickle????? We beg for nickle, but do we get nickle???? Sorry it doesn't happen. [Peronally I prefer brass] However the recent French Stilettos on Knifeshop appear to have solid nickle/silver [also known as white brass] bolsters. At least they are solid with no attraction to a magnet. They are made closer to the way we want BUT they cost 3X what an Italian knife costs. They are not perfect, the liners are too thin, but everyone should have one. I think everyone should have at least one of every Stiletto made today. There are still many in the AB/SKM line that I don't own, but I'm working on it.

I have the same thing with two stilettos, one black acrylic w/kriss blade and one rosewood bayo blade but the blade is a bit wider (back of blade to edge) I was curious about this also and when I met Angelo and Mickey in Eugene I had the knives with me, so I asked them. They both looked at the knives for a while and decided that they may have been made a while back (a few years ago) by Frank Beltrame. Although, not really old enough to be vintage. This was pretty much an educated guess on their part.
