Ever get tagged for duty?

Post by mr_edge »

Well that's something I hadn't factored in to my unit cost per knife. Just got a $33 bill from "PBB Logistics" (that's my lousy Canadian $) for duty on an express order from knifeshop back in July. Unfortunately, I've ordered a couple of times since then, so I'll likely get tagged for more. You guys never warned me about duty! LOL.

Sorry bout that, a little oversight on our part. You have to remember anything coming into this country, especially express, who use a customs broker get taxed. If you use regular post or ground you can get away without paying duty. If its coming from overseas it would take you a month or so...
The only duty i have paid is when using express shipping from Europe, not from the good old US of A....

Oh well. I would have paid the duty had I known I'd get tagged for it anyways. By the way, Razor, nice win on the little horn picklock on BA. She was a beauty.

Thanks..Should be receiving it some time this week...
Mr. Edge...some you bought anything yet on BA....Some sellers had an issue about shipments to Canada. About 90% of them have no problems.
Also getting a nice 20cm fish from Mr Walker, can't wait......

O.K. I think I get it, if Customs doesn't get everything they bill you for what they missed, is that right? Damn, and I thought our Customs was bad. We should get togeather and start our own country, one that has NO Customs dept. Maybe one with an Importation dept. that makes sure everything in a package is in perfect condition. The Cutlery office will make sure all switches work, the Herbal office will make sure you get the
"good stuff', the Firearms division will make sure they go bang. The Alcohol dept. will make sure it ignites when a match is applied to it.
[If he wants J-man can be in charge of the herbal dept.].
We'll auction off the cutlery job. Firearms dept. goes to whoever has the most guns, and alcohol dept. goes to some kid who likes to play with matches.

Thats the way these politicians get richer and the rest of us get screwed. I remember, a few years back when an ex-military, think his name was Lortie. Armed with a sub machine gun ran into parliment and opened fire, its to bad that his aim was off. We need a few more Canadians like him..

If he had used a shotgun he would have done a lot more damage. I've seen a film of him being talked into giving up. He needed a better plan and back-up.
We need a universal rule that for every law passed anywhere at least one law must be repealed by every government on the planet.
If some third-world village outlaws cow milking then every country, every state, every small village has to repeal at least one law. If we did that we might have reasonable laws in a century or two.

Razor...I still haven't ordered from BA. It was only about 1.5 years ago that I figured out that you didn't have to go to a stateside fleamarket to get a switch or bali, but that you could order them online! Since then I've just been compiling a list of all the countless treasures from production lines and trying to collect as many as my budget will allow (we're not all like razor...already having 3 of everything...lol). Buying production knives from SKM, knifeshop, PVK seems much less risky. But then I've never tried a BA dealer. I still roam BA all the time to drool, and when I complete my list (probably years and many $1000 away) I will start my hunt for the gems.

I feel your pain Mr. Edge! I too was hit for about $50 about a month after ordering from skm. Factor in that plus US. exchange plus express shipping and it gets quite expensive to order from overseas dosen't it! Makes more sense to just look to the south for more toys!

Hey I'm back after a depature the only thing I rember was I was giving a lecture at bussiness convention on my political views, or maybe that was a street corner. Anyhow razor I got a halfdecent aim, but Jean Chritien ain't even worth trading my life for! I wouldn't mind being in charge of the "herbal" dept. in our true land of freedom maybe the importation dept. too, don't want any "lace in herbs" or any "rust on/in knives".

Till that one dream comes true, it's back off too ploting poltican's deaths.

I wish i had three of everything. I have been collecting on and off for about 10 to 15 years and have delt with alot of different suppliers. I also have sold some to pay for this expensive hobby. My last aquisition was a Sand Shark and you don't want to know how much i paid with the exchange rate.
J-man..Gladly put you in charge of the Herbal dept. It was rumoured that Chretien is retiring this year, Was it because of his pervert son, who has been charged again with sexual harasment up in Yellowknife.
Don't we have great politicians running this country.

Razor,
If autos ever become legal in Canada, are you going to invite me to the opening of your Royal Canadian Switchblade museum? You're only about 6-7 hrs away and I'd likely make the drive every weekend for the sandshark alone! Keep your displays under glass though....as I have indicated, I'm a bit of a drooler.

South of the border isn't heaven for Switches but since guns are much more legal here lesser "weapons" are not given much priority here unless
you have done something else wrong. Then they are happy to "add on" as many charges as they can. It's better here but not perfect. Our Police do have many more restrictions on search and seizure, so they are more likely to confiscate [un-officially, off the record] and turn you loose. If you have done nothing else wrong.

Well, Razor you only live about 5 hours from me, I live in Orilla which is on lake couching/lake simcoe which you can see on map of southren ontario, I can get to Ottatwa in about 4 hours, Montreal is just across the river. Anyhow, Mr. Edge we could carpool. And Razor we have wonderful politicans running are country, I'm not a liberal but the liberals in power arent in the middle, nor right or left, THERE JUST NOT THERE! I personally think his age is getting up with him, Allen Rock the idiot who might reach the top of the party in a few years, who wants to stop smoking all over the country *cough*wants more money*cough* for health care *cough*Wallet*cough*Campigan*cough* excuse me. Anyhow we really have great politicans, maybe Chritien's son will one day amend the child porn laws! And Vagrant, I have one thing to say, I think the U.S. is starting to use our laws because ours are more less freedom like, which the U.S. governement wants. And just for the record I AM NOT ANTI-AMERICAN, but all Non-US citzens and American citzens alike can agree the US governement no matter how good some people can be, greed and more power can always take over the best of intentions..
