Is this a completely molested stiletto, or is this by design?

No, it was made that way.
Later versions had rectangular buttons.

I have seen a black scaled example , but never the pearlex.
Im sure "Tarry Levigne" made or added his name to similar shaped knives.
Here is a picture showing the Tarry Levigne "Lizard import" ones .Sunny I hope you don't mind me sharing these pictures my freind....Where have you been hiding?
