Your idea would work but I don't know if you would want to put any more effort into a knife with that blade.
Jeremy, I had to put some thought into that but I think I will. I expect ACK will offer a refund at best and I kinda like this knife weird blade and all. I think if I could get somebody to install the pins properly and switch out the bolster it would be a great little knife.

Why? The knife is a literal POS. It would need new handles, the blade sucks.
It would be cheaper to just buy a 9" Italian and have it rehandled without rear bolsters.

Does it seem like that blade could have been an altered kris? I can't figure out how else it could look like that with that diagonal line on the left above the tang.

I see what you mean. The blade looks altered to me but seems to have too much meat left to have been cut down from a kris. There is a very faint stamp on the back I can’t make out.

You're right; the kris blade doesn't have that diagonal above the tang on the left side. I guess it is just a different grind. Some modern bayos do have a grind with curved lines, like those Superiors and some AGAs. I guess that is just a blade like that. The rest of the handle doesn't look like it is anything different in any way.
