Bonsa leverlock on the bay...
Saw on Bill's website that some Bonsa's are rare... Don't know if this one qualifies, but here's the link. 2 now

I have the exact same knife, bought it off eBay around a month ago and paid around that same price..
Personal opinion.. great addition to any collection.

If I hadn't spent almost 200 on a J inox recently, I would bid on it.

I have never seen a Bonsa with a clip point blade. Maybe Bill could chime in and tell us if it has been reshaped?

Bonsas were available with clip point blades. It's original.

Re: Bonsa leverlock on the bay...
Thanks Bill. Good to know.
Re: Bonsa leverlock on the bay...
What is interesting to me is that the clip point blade knife appears to have the "soccer ball being kicked" (my term not anything official) stamp on the back of the tang. It also has the lever with just the circular cutout.
The Bonsas I have seen as well as the ones I have with the soccer ball being kicked stamp on the back of the tang have the skeleton (my term not anything official) lever like the one in the other photos. Also the Bonsas I have seen as well as the ones I have with lever with the circular cutout do not have the soccer stamp. Plus, there is the clip point blade, interesting knife.

They were available in a dizzying number of configurations, Jim.
Generally, the trapezoid lever are later models. Both types were available in the 1970s.

I have the black scaled bonsa w the hexagonal shape lever,I've also heard it call a keystone lever, from another collector, yes bill is correct, they did come in a dizzying array of combinations of blade grinds.
I beleive the foot soccer ball is an older stamp that bonsa used.

Lance,
Actually the soccer ball stamped examples that I have seen have had the trapezoid lever which is usually associated with newer models. This is getting as confusing as picklock genealogy...well not really.

Re: Bonsa leverlock on the bay...
I was pretty sure the football stamp was only used on stainless knives. Seems like Henning told me I was wrong. I still think I'm correct, as "Rostfrei" is part of the stamp.
In the mid to late 1970s, Bonsas came through almost exclusively with the trapezoid leverse=. Occasionally you would see a standard lever on one of the stag knives.

The clip point for sale we are speaking of here, is the only one I have ever seen. I like them but not for 300 bills.
