**NEW** Commemorative Knife TO COME, Honoring Rick Giroux

Post by barshoo »

Angelo Campolin of AGA Campolin will do the laser engraving. He will put horizontally Rick/RMG 2018 on the blade, and AGA on front tang, and serial number (1 of 30, 2 of 30, 3 of 30...) on back tang. Feel free to comment to your heart's content!! AGA Campolin is sending 15 - Sicilian's, 10 - Diana Leverlock's, and 5 - Piccolo's.

See sign-up post in the "Off Topic" section

I forgot to add that the new "Piccolo's" have a new "excellent steel N690Co (this is etched on the blade too, on the back)", quoted from Angelo's email.

Hi Barb...Are you sure you're going to need that many knives? Cost of 30 knives is quite a chunk of change to put out when so far you only have a handful of guys that have committed or shown much interest.

Once a set price gets finalized I can see a few others jumping in but I think 30 is really being enthusiastic...Unless you don't mind having a bunch of extra.

I hate to be the pessimist but these forums just aren't as busy as the good old days.

Thank you Terry!

I changed to:

15 Fighting Sicilian, no ring pull

10 Diana

5 Piccolo

30 knives, not 40. All Brazilian. I will sell more than one per person.

I think this will work!

If funds allow, I may be on board once you get a lock down on price.

I emailed that order to Angelo last night before bed. He emailed me back, "no problem" (with cutting my order to 30 knives), he is happy to make the knives to commemorate Rick. He is travelling today, but "I get back to you shortly with prices." ("almost the same for every knife", he said).

I want to remind everyone that the "Fighting Sicilian" has the picklock tab, and that is the ONLY difference. (No one wants the ring pull) Once I get prices, I will start the sign-up sheet in the "Off Topic" section.

Do we all want to chip in for one knife to give to Dick Giroux (Rick's Father, or if he does not want it, then his son Jason)? OR, I know we talked about a donation to the SPCA, but I have another charity in mind. (It is just an idea, hear me out...)

My sister, Kat Albrecht, runs a non-profit organization ("Missing Animal Response Network") to help pet owners recover their lost pets. (Rick was very interested in her work.) Check https://www.missinganimalresponse.com/kat-albrecht/ to read up on her work, and let me know what you think. She also wrote three books, and holds seminars nationwide (even in Australia).

You would not have to buy a knife to donate. Anything beyond the knife is OPTIONAL!!

I can take orders for more than one knife, if you wish. The price will reflect the costs of the knife, and running this project, no profit. :D

Choose from:

15 - Fighting Sicilian

10 - Diana

5 - Piccolo

All in Brazilian Horn.

I'm gonna stay with my original preference, the Sicilian. The Picalo is too small for my fat hands. The Diana model would take up too much real estate in my pocket.

I have the list of everyone who wants a knife and which knife they want. You are going to like the price! Angelo gave me the same price for each variety of knife! I just need to confirm that we are getting Brazilian horn! When Angelo writes to me in the morning, I will know for sure. I have the sign-up list and details on a Word document, all ready to just copy and paste to the sign-up post (which will be located in the Off Topic section). Look for my signal HERE tomorrow morning, then go see the Sign-Up List! Exciting stuff!

Still want a Brazilian Sicilian, if signups close and you don't meet your quota nessesary for the order, I could order more. I'd need to know the total price first to totally commit to this though. Will stay tuned to see what the quotes are in the morning.

Luke and Mike,

I feel pretty optimistic that you will want a second Sicilian! But, I'll let you decide that...
