Protech Godfather question

Post by Jrarbogast »

I recently inherited a protech godfather but notice the button was sticking. When deployed the button would not fall into place providing a solid lock. Took apart, cleaned and reassembled and it's better but not great. My question is, I noticed the button is two pieces... is that right? I have never seen a two piece button lock. That's what is screwing up the lockup.

Call Pro-tech, unless it's been in a "wreck", they will fix it. Best customer service in the industry, IMO. 562-860-0678. Taz

The original Florida Black knife (Ron Miller, Charlie Ochs and Reese Wieland) had a two piece. Larger part under handle and smaller button "top" installed from outside. Charlie had that changed later, he actually still has some parts available. Taz

Thanks. I didn't think it was that old but its indeed a two piece button. I really hope they will fix or replace it then.

I just want to be sure it is a real protech godfather....I have only handled a couple and never had one apart but they sure seemed to just be a one piece plunger button.
