You’re probably right about Spadon, but I honestly don’t know who makes the AKC OTFs.omega wrote:Really, John?john wrote: If you’re looking for an Italian OTF, AKC makes a good one.........
I've not handled any of the AKC marked pieces, and I just assumed they put their mark on the same old stuff that Spadon sold to everyone else in Maniago.
So what's up.......... are the AKC branded OTF's any good now?
Chris
I consider them more of a novelty rather than a really useful knife. And for what they cost what can anyone expect.

Thanks John!
I've always respected your opinions and am glad to see you weigh in on AKC's builds.
I'm really anxious to get one of their new F-16's in my hands and have a little fun with it. I've got a HUGE stack of unopened mail, as well as cardboard boxes that need to be broken down so I can fit them in the dumpster. That's pretty much the extent of my use cutlery anymore, LOL, and it will give my Leverletto a break.
Cheers!

"Stiletto" was once a slang term for an OTF switchblade that I have not heard in years. My favorite are Microtechs and they do make one that has the bayonet blade.

Re: Recommendation for first OTF Stiletto
An excellent "starter" OTF would be the "Lightning" (Taiwanese manufactured) knife. These are relatively inexpensive and can be had in either a clip-point blade or stiletto-style. This knife can also be a "user". (Many buy them and use them for years).
If you buy an F-16 from Grindworx (a.k.a. Blade Play) you will be served well. Buy both and make yourself happy.

I strongly believe the F-16s are an Asian made model for them. Like the Lightnings they are worth the price, but at half the "made in Italy" price of all the others, and the blade grind, handle materials etc....I think Asian. I had posted this months ago when they came out and most agreed.

Hi Chris,
I hadn’t considered non-Italian otfs. Matt’s Microtech suggestion is one to think about. They make quality otfs. I agree with FP and Tom, I think you can’t go wrong with a lightning OTF; I think I have two, not muck of a collection. I don’t know anything about the F 16, but it’s fairly priced I might add one on to my next buy.
