Switchblade ID help needed

Post by DalyTek »

I found this beautiful knife a couple years ago at a pawn shop, and it has been my pride and joy ever since.
However, I know nothing about it. Can anyone shed some light on it for me?

"Looks Like" a 9" Walt's Classic Flatguard Picklock Flat Button Dagger Grind that's had filework done to it. Brazilian Horn scales. I can't tell you what year. "Looks Like" I wish it were mine! lol...

Thanks for the info, JulesVane!
Is this a newer knife or older? How much would this thing be worth?
I tried looking up the info you gave, but couldn't find much.

It looks like one of the older knives roughly 2010ish. Frank B may have made that size for Walt. The filework on the spring looks original the lines on the blade look custom.
We have members here who can give you more accurate info than I. I’m pretty sure the flat button was made before my examples from 2011. Image

Why don't you ask Latama? Since it's their knife, I'm sure Walt can tell you all about it.

Is it 9 inches or 11 inches when open? It is a flatguard picklock, which is fairly rare, and the dagger blade is unusual. The others pictured are bolster release, more common/newer. Nice find.

As Bill stated above, Walt is a super nice guy, and if you sent him these pics to the site Bill provided, I too am sure he will help. If you DO find a price, I know I, for one, would possibly be interested. Keep us posted please. I'm interested to know info as well.

John, yours also appear to have another marking on the tang that is missing on mine. Don't know if that is relevant or not.

Bill DeShivs, thanks for the advice! I have reached out to Latama.

Thom, this one is a 9"

DalyTek,

That is the first 9" Walt's flatguard I have seen. They were made before I started collecting. Pre 2010. Also first dagger bladed flatguard I have seen. If you do contact Walt, let us know what he says. Like JV I would be interested if you want to part with it. Unless you need money I would keep it. Here is a picture of my Walt's Latama collection.

BTW the extra stamp is a Italian Quality mark. Not a big deal.

Cool Thom! The prices weren't bad back in '07- '08. Were they the last years Walt's Flatguard Picklocks were available?
