Look at what some people are bidding, they can't be serious.

Something's GOT to be wrong here! Looks to be made in Japan. Where's JimBrown257? Maybe he knows why this would fetch such a crowd (if it is Japanese). https://www.ebay.com/itm/vintage-stilet ... A0.H0.TRS5

To bid over a 11 thousand though, WTF? I wonder if those people even have that much money or wishful thinking?

There are a lot of stupid people in the world.
That said, it looks like some bid-rigging going on, perhaps to pump up what the knife will bring when it's really sold.

It wouldn't make a bit of difference what the tang stamp says.
The knife is a Japanese false button manual knife.
Even the description is wrong. The handle is plastic, not wood.

This reminds me of the old "false button" knives that were sold in men's magazines during the late 1960's and early 1970's. They specifically stated that "if you push the button, nothing happens." They went on to state that it is really a fine knife used by sportsmen and fishermen. (They were just Stainless Steel Japanese knives that weren't any better than their automatic Italian counterparts).

Nothing special here.

If I just had some of those Japanese knives, instead of these antique German and Italian ones- I'd be rich!

Hurry it’s slmost gone. The bidder must be a friend of the seller trying to falsely increase the value of an otherwise cheap knife.

Unbelievable :o

You just never know it could be someone who really wants it to complete a collection. :)
To some people 11,000 dollars is like 100 pounds is to me.

More likely your correct John and the underbidder is a freind giggling every time it goes past a money milestone.....surely no one will pay the winning bid.

Hi Ian,
You’re absolutely right. $11,000. can be like pocket change to the wealthy.
I wish I could blow $11,000 like that.
I was born handsome and not rich.
