Sorry you were ripped off on that one. And we sometimes complain about quality control regarding products coming out of Maniago!

Take it apart, and put it back together. It's probably ok- just loose screws.

I don't know, I think the spring/springs are broken, everything is loose, and the blade don't lock in the well very well.
Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
Gonna see if I can send it back, it's in worse shape than I thought it was gonna be.
Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
Oh, the release bolster doesn't return either.

Like Bill said, try tightening it up. Everything looks loose from the pictures. You probably could have found the same knife for 1/3 of what you gave for it. Live and learn I guess.

Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
I got it tightened up a bit, but, when the safety is pushed forward it raises the firing button way up outside of the button hole and when the safety is slid back, the button and safety is really loose and rattles around. There is a bit of a gap on the lower bolster that I can't get tighter, and the blade won't stay locked in the closed position. Worn pin maybe?
Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
Oh, and when the blade is fully open, you can gently push down on the blade to close it with using the bolster release and the release stays down so you have to manually move it back(meaning it doesn't return on it's own).
Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
So sorry to hear what you're going through with that purchase Scott. The only reason I can possibly understand why you were drawn to that piece was because it had screws instead of pins and you wanted to get a better look at the internal mechanisms of a switchblade knife. Other than the easier access because of screws instead of pins, you could have busted apart a bunch of $15 Asian pieces, but probably not been able to re-assemble. Truly a shame as I'm sad to hear your disappointment. Good luck....

Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
Thanks Chris and everyone. I basically got the knife because I wanted something I could play with and if it broke, I wouldn't mind so much. I understood there was some issues which I could possibly resolve on my own, but, when I got it there was more than I knew/thought. I worked on it earlier and it's a little better, the main issue is that the blade won't stay locked inside the handle/well unless I press on the top of the scale by the firing button and then it is still pretty wonky, and also when I try to slide the safety to lock, it pushes the firing button way up out of the hole. Other stuff is minor.

Re: Safety on an Italian/stiletto
Like I said in my first post you got ripped of....Ask our advice before you piss anymore money away. Not afterwards.
Like I said this is a kit knife and no where near the quality of the Frank B switch models...Bill D or Frank Beltrame himself couldn't assemble one of the pos knives and make it work or look right.
BTW- I would file a complaint with Gunbroker because the seller is a thief. Hopefully your method of payment can be disputed.
