Safety on an Italian
How are safetys fastened on Italian style switchblades? I will have a knife arriving that has screws instead of pins that I got as a project knife/something I can mess around with. My concern is more with the safety as I dont't want to break it when I attempt to take the knife apart (if I do). What are your thoughts/thinking?

Re: Safety on an Italian
As you probably know, that is not an Italian knife. When you get it and unscrew the scales, please post some pictures of the innards. It ought to be interesting.
Re: Safety on an Italian
No, not Italian made, I know. If I get it apart without destroying it, I will post pics.
Re: Safety on an Italian
I guess my question is, if I take off the front scale, will the safety come with it willingly, will it break, any proper way to do it?
Re: Safety on an Italian
I think the scale is just hollowed out enough to clear the safety and fire button. The scale just keeps it in place. The liner is where it all is mounted. The safety is just a slide to block the fire button. I have taken apart screwed on scales, never pinned scales, but I'm sure they are the same.

Thanks thom, so the saftey should come out easily, and what about puting it back in?
Re: Safety on an Italian
I didn't mean Italian, I meant Italian style/Asian, just to be clear.
Re: Safety on an Italian
It just lays on top. It slides forward to block the fire button. It will be like a 2 prong fork that slide under the fire button. At least that is what I have seen.
Re: Safety on an Italian
My problem is removing scales that are pinned. See this thread. Let me know how you do it. Take pics if you can.

The scale will come straight off easily and you will see how the safety works. If I get a chance during the day I will post a picture.
I sure hope you didn't buy the knife you posted the link to...That is a major rip off imo.

whippersnapper, I did not want to say anything, but you are right. Could have bought a better knife for the money. But if he learns something by fiddling with it, could be worth the money.
Re: Safety on an Italian
I got it for 65.00, person wouldn't take less than that. Tried to get it alot cheaper.

When you take that button side scale off the safety will be attached to the scale. You may have to bend it slightly to remove it from the scale slot.
The safety starts off as a flat piece then gets bent over when it is put in the slot.
