Switchblades in Brazil
Hi gents, i'm on vacation in Brazil: Rio , Iguazu and Florionapolis. Does anyone know brazilian switchblade or otf knives manufacturers? I tried to google, but no luck. The only switchblades i saw in Rio were chinese crap (clones of otf from Batman, don't remember the original maker). I would appreciate any help. Thanks

Re: Switchblades in Brazil
I recently came back from Brazil & Argentina. Saw nothing. Not even Asian junk.

There should be some vintage pieces hidden around there somewhere; several styles used to be made in Argentina, including this type, a lever-opening, ringpull lock release.

I've seen a few knives that were made in Argentina but nothing from Brazil, or any other SA countries. Once in a while I see some sellers that are in South America but they all seem to have the same Italian/German stuff as everybody else.

Thanks for the look at the Argentinian. First one I've seen.

HI, thanks for sharing Argentinian, it's amazing. I've just returned from Brazil, had a good vacation but didn't find any local switchblades. But they have a huge variety of Tramontina knives for those who are interested. I had a connection in Rome, so I bought couple of switchblades there:)

Wow.... Really cool to see that Argentinian leverlock switchblade by industria.
They certainly threw in a lot of switchblade designs but i love it.
I have never seen one for sale ,or even knew it existed....thats why i love the forum.

I like that knife from Argentina. Interesting combination lever with a ring pull release and the bayonet dagger style blade is something I don’t remember seeing before.

Re: Switchblades in Brazil
In the 1959 Brazilian movie, "Black Orpheus", the title character pulls an 11" (maybe 13") picklock on Death to prevent him from taking Eurydice. It is effective for a short while. Why Death would be afraid of a big knife is not explained. After the grim reaper departs, Orpheus adroitly closes the knife showing great familiarity with that weapon. It was no doubt an Italian piece, but these must have been popular in Rio back in the day.
