Lever lock help

Post by cb1960 »

Hello all, I have a lever lock I recently bought from a friend. It appears well made with a strong snap, with no wobble. I’m interested in any info as to when, where it was it made. I understand this trademark had been sold a few times and have heard this type of knife is sometimes made in Italy or China even though marked Germany. Also, any thoughts on on the scales. I’m thinking jigged bone but the white coloration is throwing me off. I do not believe they are delrin or other plastic type material. I have lurked for some time and am hoping some one can help with the info. Just want to know what I got and appreciate any help. Thank you.

That is a real bone handle and Robert Klass / Kissing Crane German made knife.....nice one too! The newer ones are very different and they stopped making lever locks long ago

Thanks Tom, that’s what I was hoping to hear. Anybody thoughts on time frame of production. Pre or post 1980 or later /earlier? Appreciate any input. Thank you.

You added a beautiful vintage knife to your collection. The black jigged bone looks great. I love a clean stamp it’s fantastic. Awesome knife!

Beautiful leverlock cb1960

The jigged bone looks superb and Klass leverlocks are very sought after.....well I myself would really like one and they are getting scarcer, especially in this nice condition.

It is difficult to age leverlock knives exactly, but i think this one of yours is from the 1970s-80s
It's in lovely condition with no bladepeek and as I said earlier that jogged bone is just great .

Hope desktop or Bill D shivs and many others look in ......they know a lot about l everlocks than I could hope to .

Congratulations anyway on a beautiful knife 8)

Thanks, gravknife, I agree with you on the date...I finally found a similar one for sale online after a lot of looking that looks just like this one with identical tang stamps but in stag. They were advertising 1980s vintage. I had my choice of buying one of three different automatics all from different mfrs from a buddy’s knife collection. I am not a knife expert but this was the oldest looking one, felt very solid and well built, opened nicely with no wobble at all, had brass liners and I liked the scales so I bought it. Every once in awhile I get lucky.

The one you got is really great. It has none of the common issues these ones have (cracks in the bone, sharpened blade, peek). Your's even has a nice Kissing Crane stamp. A lot of the ones I've seen has the KC stamp crooked or awkwardly placed.

Good point JimBrown, the KC stamp is nice and a nice deep one is a bonus. I have only one KC leverlock (the "root beer" model) and luckily my stamp is deep and clear. It is one of my favorites.
