Knife purchase

Post by Scotchman »

Would anyone be able to tell me the possible maker of the knife I am getting from Latham's by the link Chris posted, or would I have post some pics once I get it? I am excited as this would be my first older possibly non Frank B. (?) knife. Thanks.

Here's the link to your purchase Scott. Maybe someone more experienced can chime in on the INOX tang stamp maker. https://lathams-vintage-knives.myshopif ... -horn-28cm

Many people used Inox, just about everybody at some point. If the maker of this knife is determined, it probably won't be determined by the stamp.

An example of a "transitional" piece. Missing a cap on the safety. Price advertised on the web site is pretty much what it should go for in my opinion. Determining the maker would be a shot in the dark with only the Inox stamp.

Swivel bolsters would most likely be stainless as NS is comparatively soft and would wear swiveling against the lock tab.

Inox means that the blade is "inossidabile", or "inoxidizable" or just plain stainless steel. Widely used after makers went from carbon steel to the more modern product.
