BOBC
Picked up this BOBC from France last year and thought i would show it here and find some more out about these knives.
It's 8.75 inches in length and has nicely coloured buffalo horn.
It's marked Rostfrei in script and has nickle furniture and D stamped liners plus the swedge blade .
I wondered wether being a bobc and having these certain build traits puts it at the same time and age as the transitional knives of the 60s-early 70s?
We're these Bobc knives only made for a certain period of time like the transitionals?
If anyone has other Bobc knives I would love to see them posted.
hope everyone is keeping well here .

Re: BOBC
Ian...I can't answer your questions, but I can add that it's a beautiful piece! The trio picture is just awesome as well! I've yet to aquire a BO/BC, but always high hopes.

Re: BOBC
I believe it’s 100% Italian and probably made in the late 50s.
Let’s wait for the pros to chime in.
By the way it so wicked cool!

Thanks Jules and John for taking a look and your kind words.
I am always at a loss at ageing these as i have a smaller example marked Rostfrei PATENT swedge blade which looks older than this ....then i got the derby bolster swedge which isn't as well made .....they both look around the 1960s .
This example looks slightly more modern but has all the attributes of a tranny but no swivel due to its slipjoint BoBC action.
I quite like these when they show up.
I wonder if they did 13 " examples all the ones i see are under 9".
I hope your both well and good to hear from you as usual.

Re: BOBC
I found the patent documents on these models and it was 1961 or 1963. I’d have to check and I could give the exact date. They probably made them until about 1970.

Re: BOBC
I have been led to understand that in the world of Italian stilettos, Button Open/Button Close is one if the stronger mechanisms. Is this true, or am I mistaken?

Don't know about the strength of these Scott ....but its a clever and easy to use mechanism .

I love cracked ice on older knives and these 2 are great looking bobc knives.
Always nice to have different sizes of the same scaled knife even better when they are Bobc switches.
.i wonder if they do a 28cm and 33cm in these BO/BC knives.....anyone got a larger model or know if they exist?
