Can someone help identify this “Stiletto”
Hello , just purchased this. Says Italy Stainless and something so lightly stamped underneath I can’t make it out with a 10x loop. Blade looks to be lasered with the word “Stiletto”. Brass lined. Fires hard sits perfectly in the middle when closed and locks up very tight. Seems to be very well made or at least I haven’t seen Chinese knives his good yet. The scales are a laminate red colored wood. Thanks for your input.

It looks well-constructed. Generally, that particular style of "Stiletto" script on the blade indicates that it was manufactured in China. The "Italy/Stainless" stamp may be genuine. I'm not an expert when it comes to tang stamps, perhaps you can get a better opinion from someone that's more knowledgeable than I.

That’s what I thought when I saw the Stiletto. I did see Milano is a dead give away and have seen good manufactures laser blades .It’s brass lined , no pins through , tight , tighter then any AB I own. I’m stumped. Wish I knew the bottom stamp which cannot be read at all just a taint bottom portion of the stamp is there but can’t make out one letter.

I have taken the liberty of editing your message by quoting it and making very small changes to your code. Now instead of displaying the hyperlinks, it displays the pictures directly. I added an "i" before "lensdump" and a ".jpg" after the filename (at the end of the link) then surrounded the whole thing with 'img' tags. I can't type them here because the system will treat them as code and try to do something with them, but it's just img at the start and /img at the end, both surrounded by square brackets, [ and ]. Everyone makes a big deal out of showing pictures and you were soooooo close.
I can't help about the knife, but maybe I can help improve your posts ... and maybe show some other folks how easy this is. When I clicked on the stuff you provided, it showed a picture and also gave me the format. Near the bottom you will see "embed codes" and after clicking that "image URL". When I quote the message, it showed me what you had and it was very close to the correct syntax ... so I just edited a little.
Good luck!

It's Asian, but I've had one of those and they are better than a Milano by far!

Wow. Didn't know Asians did work like this. Maybe Japanese ? Or are we talking straight China ? Never seen this quality out of China.

Taiwan is where they used to be made, got mine from Stu quite awhile back. Surprising what is coming out of China anymore. Check out WE Knives, really hi quality from China.

The knife is an AB stiletto made in Maniago.
It's not Asian. It's not a Milano.
Just a standard modern Italian stiletto.

Looks just like the one I bought from Stu around 10 years ago, he told me it was made in Taiwan.

Thanks so much Bill. You are the man once again. Never seen brass lined China or Chinese with pins like this. I will be posting an old lever lock in the next two days I think you'll like. It's in the mail and definitely different then your avg. thanks again Mr. DeShivs.

Both the Asian knives and the Italian knives have similarities.
Both have blades and handles.
Otherwise, they look nothing alike.

Re: Can someone help identify this “Stiletto”
As Bill said this is from Italy. In the early 1990s a USA importer printed the work "stiletto" or "Scilano Stiletto" on the blades of the knives he imported.

I paid $17.95 for the one I had, sold it for $20.00 so I guess Stu and I both screwed up.

Re: Can someone help identify this “Stiletto”
whoever commissioned this run surely didn't help their cause having "stiletto" etched on the blade in the same font and location as the Taiwanese pieces ... oh well. The feature that points toward genuine Italian for me is the stonewashed blade (Taiwanese pieces have mirror finish), sear hole is not drilled all the way through, and, of course, the brass liners.
Knee-deep in the hoopla...
