He's on the SD forum as "shursnap" and on Facebook in Old Switchblade Knives. He's the author of "Antique American Swithblades" published by Krause Publications, perhaps you can reach him through them. I don't have his email or phone number, perhaps another member can help you out.

SD Forum? . help a brotha out..
Is that forum still running anymore?

Not so sure that is a safe place to go? My desktop keeps blocking it. Wants me to add a Chrome extension.
But thanks anyhow.

A lot of the TB members are also SD members. It’s a safe site. Just guessing your desktop computer may be blocking you because of the keywords such as knife and therefore unsafe.

Remember, owning anything aside from a food preparation knife brands you as one of the "dangerous" types.

Brandon is all about politics which, in my opinion, has no place on a knife forum, is totally inappropriate and should not be allowed by the site administrators.

Revitalizing an old topic. . .

It could be there was only a very few manufactured. . . .simple as that.
or. . . .
Speculation based on experience with other plastics.
Green Plastic manufactured before WW2 may be deteriorating.

You can't find one, because the ones surviving are hidden in a hermetically sealed container
forgotten in a desk drawer.
And all the ones left exposed to the air. . . . . . shrank.
Have you ever noticed that many Shure Snap plastic scales no longer fit into the bottom bolster.
Those scales originally fit without the gap. . . .they are shrinking due to "Volatile Evaporation".
a loss of Oils in the organic matrix we call plastic.

I have a collection of 12 inch G.I.Joe dolls. Dating back to the original issue.
From year to year the plastic changed. Original dolls had hard heads, later they became squeezable.
The original dolls had fingers that were hard (prior to "Kung-Fu Grip")
but the hard fingers were flexible enough to allow a pistol to be held.

After sitting on shelved for half a century, Fingers holding guns dried out to a "wide grip"
but empty hands lost oil vapors and turned into a wax substance to small to hold a pistol.
Try and fit a gun into the hand, and the fingers will crack off. . . they didn't crack when new.

Same with the heads. . . .Fuzzy bearded G.I.Joes with the 3rd generation joint will "pop" their necks.
You come down in the morning, and there's a head on the floor.
I don't think it was a Twilight Zone Doll Execution at Midnight.

The same problem really became apparent with "turn of the Century" camphor based celluloid.
Different people started producing Custom Color Plastics, and some were more stable than others.
Some would give off the "Vicks Vapor Rub" odor of camphor, and it would attack adjacent plastic and metals.
I've had some celluloids turn to "goo" . . . and others seem to crumble like month old Christmas Cookies.

The instability of a certain color is speculation,
as there is no way to test for a chemical that evaporated completely.
I've never seen the green color scale you have referred to.

My unicorn is a Brown Swirl Snappy . . . . . But I only seem to find Yellow ones.
