9” Kissing Crane humpback

Post by hearandgone »

Post 9” Kissing Crane humpback
I ran across this KC humpback a few weeks ago at an antique show. It’s in great shape with nice scales and an unsharpened blade. There are a few scratches near the tip of the blade and the Spring is broken so I guess it will be going to Bill’s shop to get that spring replaced.

I like that. Nice piece. If you don't mind me asking, what did that set you back?

Since it was broken, he sold it to me for the special price of $25. And that was okay with me.

I hope to spit in your mess kit! That may cost about $150.00 (more or less) to repair, Then you could sell it for $200.00 - $225.00.

That was a reasonable investment for a "fixer-upper".

Very nice addition to the collection. I tried for one just like it about 15 years ago on auction and got sniped at the last second. To this day I vividly remember my disappointment. Bill will do a great job for you.

Given the overall appearance of the knife in the photos I'd say it would be worth the cost of having it repaired. Don't see a lot of KC's with those attributes and condition any more.

Fantastic knife.
Love these Patent marked knives and the cracked ice /pearlex scales pattern is just great .
I would have gladly given that bargain asking price as these are very rare knives and have that older build quality that transitionals have .
Add that great KC mark on the blade and its well worth a repair imho.

Not many more to compare it to ill wager.
Great find and congratulations .

Wow, really nice! I honestly don't see many KC autos around. Great piece, great price!
