I Like Stilettos (Dave Sause) told me of a 10" AKC Fishtail Picklock with wood scales a man named Mark had for sale. Within 24 hours I bit and bought the knife for a cool $92.00 (including shipping and Pay Pal charges). The knife was manufactured sometime in about 1997-98 and looks nearly new except for a couple of scuff marks on the scales. Aside from that, the knife is purported to be in nearly new condition. (I wish I knew how to post pictures. I would have brought some from my email).

The scales are a nice warm brown color and give me a good feeling just looking at them. 8) I just wish a maker in Maniago would provide a constant supply of great Fishtails. They are such a good looking knife and have useful clip point blades.

The knife should be in my hot little mitts before January 18th. I'll keep everyone posted on how the knife looks and feels when it arrives.

Life is good.

I am glad you have found a fishtail knife that i know you love.

I know it isnt quite the one that your dad carried all those years ago but they are lovely looking knives and its a gap and memory filler till the Latama picklock rears his head in the future, like i know it will.

I hope this new year treats you well Sir.

regards

Ian and Sammy,

Blessings to you and your families throughout 2018. After a fall on Christmas morning, I have nearly healed. There was Ice everywhere and I wound up bruising my ribs, leg, and elbow slipping down some concrete steps. (It is SO unforgiving).

Again, thanks to all and Happy New Year.

Bless you all. I pray that this Fishtail can be carried in a holster and used as an EDC as well as other knives.

The AKC Fishtail Pick Lock arrived in today's mail. it is beautiful! This was $92.00 well spent. The blade took a nice edge and the brown wood is nicer than it looked in the pictures Dave sent. Not only does it evoke fond memories of my late father, but the "Fish" is a practical blade too. Sharp and useful as a tool, the knife fills so many roles.

Life is good.

Thank you, Sammy. This is one of the Italian knives that can prove useful The nice part about the long blade on the Fishtail is the ability to use it for finer work the clip point has the geometry for a cutting edge. This is why I have always loved this knife's configuration. Carried in a tight, open-top ballistic nylon holster it is accessible for both daily cutting jobs and self-defense applications. It needs to be carried low and against the upper thigh. You can pack it virtually unnoticed until needed.

I'm delighted for you, Scott. Mark Erickson is a superstar and a great source for vintage stuff.
