Thank you, JimBrown257. I initially thought of Frank Beltrame, but he is a more of a "modern" flick knife maker.
Do you perhaps have dates these FBRs were in production?

I don't know the specific dates but the Belanos I have seen seemed like they were 60s and 70s knife. The one pictured in this thread is the newest looking one I have seen. Though, there are probably older and newer ones than I have seen.

Thank you, JimBrown257. Seems to me many different manufacturers made flick knives back in the day.

Hi david and welcome to the forum, ive definetly seen the F.B.R stamp before.mostly on what we call "topless" bolsters or they are also called "derby" bosters.
I know that stamp is from the 60s more than likely,a contract job for an importer,my guess would be jindina,or maro mario,as they were the most prolific auto makers of that time.
Its a very desireable stamp, not necessarily as valuabe as a topless boster.but definely worth at least double what ya paid for it.so keep hold of it ya got something special.
But beware, auto-knife collecting has a way of becomeing an Obsession!! A sickness!! But a HELL OF GOOD TIME LOL!! welcome aboard! And happy hunting!!
If ya have any questions about vintage stuff feel free to p.m. me and ill help ya in any way i can.
B.t w are they very restrictive on flick knives in south Africa?

Re: Query on vintage switchback stiletto knife
Greetings, Lance. Thank you for the warm welcome.
haha! I already feel this obsession and sickness sinking in.
I am excited what you tell me, but I have no desire to sell this knife. Even being small makes it more desirable to me. Just curios why it is so small.
That is a very nice FBR photograph. Thank you for sharing.
There is no real law on sale or distribution of flick knives in South Africa, but they are not easy to find. Especially the real deal, so I am thrilled with the auction that I won.

Look under the box where you type your message; it says "full editor". Click that and then click "attachments", then "add files" and find the pic you want to attach. It can't be too big (I think the max is something like 600x600, or at least somewhere around there) so you might have to resize the pic.Krissblade wrote:How do you post a pic?

I have a knife VERY much like this -- FBR Italy and INOX, same size as well, swedge blade, swivel bolster. I'll post pics later.
