That looks like a nice pearlex "transitional" to me dewings94.
Its an italian from the Maniago cottage industry .Date 1960s to 70s .with nice nickle silver bolsters and a fat backspring.

Its throwing me a little being a bayonet blade as my slanted script Rostfrei knives are swedged .
Its a beaitiful little knife and in lovely condition.
I had its brother some time back but marked Rostfrei Patent.

I am learning so i hope someone can confirm what i have said as transitionals cause confusion ....its what i see though with the sharp nickle bolsters ,nicely shaped scales,D stamped thick liners ,and 2 piece spring.

I hope this helps a little and welcome.

I have a bayonet bladed transitional and they are a little rarer.
Its marked INOX stainless as yours is marked Rostfrei for stainless.

Thats a lovely little switchblade you have there 8)

I am only on a phone at present,i hope that a longer serving member confirms the transitional aspect for you ,but even the short throw safety switch, and mid mounted nickle pushbutton and fully lined bolsters are other indicators found on trannys

Just looking closer
It could be a picklock though ..... are you using the top bolster to open and close the knife?.
Does it swivel or do you use the locking tab to open it ?

Great find either way .

Then i must apologise as its a definite "picklock".

It could still be 1960s but i would rather a more knowleadgeable collector have their opinion.
Its still a real little beauty in my eyes and i would love to own it. 8)

I'm ever so sorry for misleading you as i am still learning after 2 years myself my freind.

Lets wait for someone who really knows their picklocks to have an opinion.

Again welcome and thanks for sharing your knife.

Thanks again, I am just learning also, For a small knife it has very good snap it can fly out of your hand if not holding tight...

It's not a transitional stiletto. The transitional's were made in the early 60s. They weren made by using parts fromthe 50s with the new modern parts to make transitional knives. As Ian said there is a lot of confusion and discussion about what traits are required to be considered a true traditional stiletto.
What you have there is a picklock most likely from the late 50s and perhaps very very early 60s.
There are collectors here who can give you much more information.
By the way that is a very nice vintage stiletto

Hello Ian,
Your three knives are awesome. I like the pearlex a lot. The stag is awesome too and what looks like Brazilian horn is wicked cool.
Awesome set.

This is not transitional. This is earlier than transitional.

This is a nice late 1950's picklock stiletto made in Maniago, Italy. It has a slip in spring, nickel silver bolsters (and button / safety), brass d-stamped liners, and pearlex / celluloid scales.

This is all very true. That's a very nice knife.
