Squirt lighter fluid in the knife and shake it out. Do this a couple of times.
Sounds like it has been over-oiled.

For the price of Ronson Lighter Fluid, one can buy a whole quart of VMP naphtha at Home Dept - same stuff, as far as its solvent properties, but WAY CHEAPER when sold in bulk. My last can was around $7 and is only half gone after being used to degunk 30-40 knives on 2 different occasions.

NOTE: Naphtha is highly flamable - use with adequate ventilation.

I think the Ronson has a little oil in it to keep it from evaporating as fast as straight VMP Naptha. But what Omega says is correct on the price per gallon lol kinda like nail polish remover for the ladies, its just acetone but a 7 oz bottle is way more oer oz than a gallon or quart as a professional subtrate preparation and protective and decorative coatings application specialist for over 30 years ( fancy way to say painter lol) I have bought a supertanker full of naptha and acetone.

As a former Floridian I have to agree ......... if they were to give the state an enema, that's where they would stick the nozzle. :)

There is no "track." Just 2 levers-one to hold it closed, and one to hold it open.
The blade is either binding before it closes all the way, or bouncing back out after it closes.

If its one of the Italian-made OTF's (concord, 777, 078-L series, mini, or others), those things were never built solidly enough to be much more than a letter-opener anyway. Good luck on getting it going. That said, they're an awful lot of fun!

Oh... chinese, LOL. Then who knows what you got there. One of the Lightnings, Titan or other microtech-china clones, perhaps. All I know is that trying to fix the double-action models is an exercise in futility. Many have tried, most have failed. I did hear that the new Benchmade OTF clones were a bit more reliable, but I don't yet own one. Something about giving DHgate access to my credit card numbers gives me the willies.

I had, and fixed this problem with a cheap Chinese cloned 'ultratech' type O.T.F. the problem I has was when I retracted the blade, it would come off track and not 'catch' in the closed position. What I did with mine was to open the handle, remove the blade and re-file the blade itself, where it is notched to accomodate the integrated-in-handle spring operated 'latches' located on either side of the blade, one on top, near the switch, and the other on the bottom-reverse side. In my case, it has worked and not failed since. The original factory work was obviously inadequate and reflected in the low price I paid for it. Your problem may be different, but for my knife, this was the cure.
