Goodbye to all ... my name is Jlic and I write from Italy ... I like collecting switchblade knives, I saw that there are many collectors and experts in these forums in this forum ... in Italy, these knives say we are not Just because of the Italian law ... hahaha .... anyway we come here .... I found months ago a small switchblade knife that was pretty worn but perfectly functional and would look old too, unfortunately I can not find any Information on the net .... I would love to know more, how many years may be and maybe who made it ... even if maybe it is worth nothing, because besides collecting them I like to know their history .... the Knife I think it is done in Italy, because on the blade is' brevettato 'written in Italian and measures 18 cm open ... thank you in advance who will answer and maybe will know' give me some more info ... Greetings from Italy ..... ps sorry for my English

Re: Identification of switchblade knife
These were made in Maniago in the 1950s, and possibly later.
I don't know the maker.

Hello still77
Glad you found this place and welcome my freind.
Thats a really nice interesting knife thanks for sharing it with us here as i hadn't seen one before.
I believe that in italian BREVETATTO has the meaning of" tried and tested "or "patent"
The only other knife i could find with this mark was a trapdoor with steel grips from the same period Bill mentioned .
All the best.

Re: Identification of switchblade knife
Ciao amico mio. The knife was designed in the late 1950s with a Patent being awarded in 1957 to an Italian master craftsman.still77 wrote:Goodbye to all ... my name is Jlic and I write from Italy ... Re: Identification of switchblade knife
Great knife, it has seen some wear and use. BREVETTATO is simply the equivalent to 'PATENTED" some of these are also marked with the "EIG" stamp. The celluloid scales are somewhat unusual on these. Its probably worth around $80. Dan
