Clip Point Autos

Post by Fishtail Picklock »

Why aren't Clip point auto knives more popular? They are eminently more useful than most other blades. It would seem that these should hold a far better market share than they do.

Opinions? Comments?

Maybe autos were first meant for self defence where clip point was not really an advantage. And from my experience -the clip point blade is not as popular I would think when I designed the Mikov utility blade. People still buy more the dagger blades (or the modified version with filework) even though I think the utility clip point is more useful.

I think the Mikov clip point blade is one of the finest knives made. I prefer it over the dagger blade. I think if they were priced the same a lot more the clip point blades would be sold.

I've wondered about this too. It would be neat if of the production guys made a line of Italians with different blades like clip-points.

I've wondered for some time why the manual stilettos largely feature clip point blades but automatic stilettos don't offer that style at all. I think our friends in Maniago, where the Kissing Crane shown below is made, are missing an opportunity. These look wicked and as autos even more so. I'd buy some for sure.

I recently bought an AGA Calibro SB with a clip point blade. Surprisingly versatile and actually useful.
