BOKER 712
I have had this boker for some time now but would like to know if these scales are red bone or red dyed wood.?
Also what is the difference between the bokers marked with 715 and mine marked 712.
Also when did these knives first become available to purchase ?
Its a great little leverlock and id love another example but i never see them over here for sale.
Thanks in advance

Re: BOKER 712
I know Boker made the 712 with red dyed bone scales and I have never seen or heard of Boker making red dyed wood scales. Having written this, I have no way of knowing if your knife has been rescaled.

Thanks Jim
The knife hasn't been rescaled ,at least i dont think so.
The rivets are nicely matched ,and finished and It looks factory scaled to my newbie eyes.
It was very cheap i think because of a small split in the top scale.
I have seen some knives Dave Sause has posted of giraffe bone and this looks similar .
It must be bone Jim .
Thanks

Re: BOKER 712
I think the 712 is smooth bone...Last knife on the bottom of the page. http://nicnac.net/contents/en-us/d29_bo ... _sale.html
And if I'm not mistaken, there is no difference between the 712 and 715 EXCEPT the 715 are all stag handled. There is a thread either here or sharperdeals that talks about this. I will try to find it.
I'm not sure when they first started being produced.

Thanks whippersnapper
So the numbers designated smooth bone ,stag derulin etc.
I was just cleaning my knives and was taking a good look at the boker.
It's pretty well made and fires very well, but have no smooth red bone scaled knives (apart from the older german pickbone scales which are different )to compare to..
I was just searching here aswell Terry.
Hope your well

Re: BOKER 712
I believe the model 712 models will have different scale materials including stag but the 715's are only stag.
Re: BOKER 712
Yes 712 are bone in different colors and 715 are stag
Re: BOKER 712
Thanks Tom
I found a few examples of the what i now know is bone scaled bokers .Some lovely colourways i had no idea existed.

Re: BOKER 712
Nice case of Bokers gravknife. I can't tell for sure from the picture but it appears that the second one from the left is a Delrin scaled model with an imbedded medallion. I remember when that run was made (I considered buying one but already had a regular Delrin example), and I'm thinking it may have been the final run of 712s (not counting the resurrected model which I heard is made in China, but don't know for sure).

Re: BOKER 712
These arent my knives Jim (wish they were)
I posted the picture i found to show the boker 712 /715 variants and colourways in one place ,a great learning tool
for anyone looking into these knives now or in the future.
I didn't know about the medallion examples but they look nice ,i surmise its the boker tree like in their older fixed blade knives. .
I like the delrin examples ,but any of these would be nice as their build quality is so good like the german levers of old.
I know you like the the German levers Jim like myself ,thanks for your comments and i hope your well.
