Frank B stamp

Post by Scotchman »

Greetings everyone.. I wanted to know if anyone ordered a knife/knives from Frank that was stamped Frank B Italy? I read that Frank said that knives stamped Frank B Italy (not lower case b), were not his and were fake. Any thoughts on this?

Don't know where you read that, but can you tell me where this assertion appeared? I have several Frank B knives and they came from Frank directly.

Frank b lowercase is Frank B knife.
I asked Frank about the lowercase B and uppercase B. He came back with a timeline of different stamps used throughout his 60-year-old business. I wish I still had that list at my fingertips, but I'll see if I can find it and post it here.

I read it on Stilettos Italiano.com and Reddit. Someone on Reddit posted, that Sara had even said the same thing.

You need to reread the article on Stilettos Italiano.com. It states, "Frank Beltrame opened his own firm F.lli Beltrame F & c. Knife used stamp b Rostfrei, and according to family Beltrame claims, knives with such stamps, where "b" is written uppercase "B", are fake." The fake B Rostfrei stamp is not the same as Frank B.

Later on in that article it goes on to say, "In 1996 F.lli Beltrame F & c company was divided into two companies: mABer Coltellerie and Fratelli Beltrame F & C. Firm Fratelli Beltrame F & C uses a brand Frank B. Italy, and according to family Beltrame claims, knives with stamps F. Beltrame are fakes."
The fakes are F. Beltrame not Frank B.

Hope this clears everything up. And lay off the single malt!

John, I copied and saved what I believe is the list Frank sent to you:
:) Hope I got it right

1960-70 BV&F was used by Frank's father

Before 1996 Frank's old tang stamp was lower case b (capital letter "B" was used by Renzo)

1996 to 2004 Frank used Stiletto Italy (AB Cutlery in 1996 also used Stiletto Italy. So, it is difficult to know for sure for 3-4 years)

2003-2004 Frank started using Frank B

Hi Terminator...according to Lars' post above, Frank Beltrame used the Frank B (upper case B) from 2003-2004 to present. These guys know their stuff, so I agree, it's real. Hope so...mine have that stamp as well...lol
