Re: Fake Hubertus
The ones I'm calling Chinese may very well have been made in Czechoslovakia. I assumed China, and I knew they weren't German.

Re: Fake Hubertus
"There’s a Chinese clone of the Hubertus Guardian swinguard which features the printing where the “R” looks like a “C.” It’s available on Wish and DHgate. It has file work on the blade, guards and bolsters and a faux stag handle."
That's exactly the same marking found on some of the real Hubertus knives.

Was the reference to recent outsourcing to Czech Republic or to Slovakia?

Re: Fake Hubertus
Hi, I have one of what looks to be one of these. It’s a piece of junk compared to the “other” Hubertus knives I have. Just verified it again: won’t open fully with the lever alone, feels cheapish...just something about it always felt off. I might have purchased it (in maybe 2015?) from a seller mentioned here earlier, a name germane to Badgers.
Btw it’s been years since I’ve posted here, but it’s nice to be back and see familiar names. I’m still in the switch/knife game, but have given many away over the last few years. I think my last purchase was a Microtech 85 (kept that though, ha). They make great gifts, and you wouldn’t believe the appreciation some “non-knifers” have for a stiletto or OTF in their hand, or that they maybe never even came across one before. Anyhow, cheers!
On-topic-like edit: now that I think more clearly: the last ratchet knife I purchased was one of the Hubertus 2001 German/US flag micarta leverlock examples. It’s a fine blade.

Re: Fake Hubertus
I was offered this "Hubertus" last week for $50. Today it was shown to me by another knife guy, who apparently bought it from the first guy.
I feigned possible interest, which was sufficient to be allowed to take a few photos.
The blade features the misspelt name 'Hubectus' and the misspelt city 'Solincen'.
I have never seen these weird L-shaped bolsters before. The scales appear to be real stag; although I suppose they might be very good faux stag.
Also, note the huge lanyard hole, and lack of a rear bolster. The entire knife barely makes an effort to resemble a real Hubertus.

Re: Fake Hubertus
Except that Hubertus doesn't even MAKE a knife like that!
While some of these do say Solincen, that's simply a mistake on the part of the Chinese.
The "Hubertus" marking is correct. It doesn't say "Hubectus".
There is no reason for them to misspell any words or trademarks (other than stupidity), because the knives are counterfeit and trade laws can not be enforced in China.

Re: Fake Hubertus
The pictured knife is a copy of an AKC model, with "Leverletto" bolsters added, and marked as a Hubertus.

Re: Fake Hubertus
Damn, guys!
Here is a picture of a guaranteed, 100% real, German Hubertus knife and it's marking.
THIS is the marking the Chinese copied, and it does NOT say "Hubectus!

Re: Fake Hubertus
Thanks for the correction, Bill..... I did not realize that it was intended to copy an AKC. I am not that familiar with their knives.
It just didn't look remotely like any Hubertus that I've ever seen.
If anyone has the genuine AKC which this knife was meant to imitate, I would be interested in seeing a photo or three.....

Re: Fake Hubertus
Like Bill said- It is based on this AKC model with added Leverletto style bolsters...

Re: Fake Hubertus
I've owned the AKC mentioned, its a very good value and a great alternative for EDC rather than using a valuable Solingen piece.whippersnapper wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 7:07 am Like Bill said- It is based on this AKC model with added Leverletto style bolsters...

Re: Fake Hubertus
Maybe I didn't get the memo.... but I was surprised to read this:
"ALL KNIVES MADE BY HUBERTUS ARE NOW DISCONTINUED- NEVER TO BE MADE AGAIN."
https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... er_stock=3
Hubertus is out of business? For real? When did this happen.....???
