Makers mark id

Post by gravknife »

Can anyone help with this switchblade I picked up.
It's blade looks to be shortened and it's in badly sharpened condition but it locks and fires nicely. The blades length is 3 and a quarter inches but the grip is larger than this.
The mark on the tang is a semi circle with radiating lines of equal length, two triangles within and a B the right hand side, there is a line at the base, and rostfrei.
Sorry if it's a poor description or partially erased but it's the best I can describe it,and my phone won't catch it.
The knife has stainless bolsters which are hollow and brass liners, it locks up and fires beautifully.
Any help appreciated as usual.
Thanks in advance
Ian

Beltrame, made for the German market-hence the short blade.

I believe the mark might be a "Branner" mark. The Branner mark is actually a round face holding a knife in it's teeth. Branner was an exporter in the 1980s

I always thought it looked like a head with a knife in his mouth...Not very common of a stamp imo.

One of my very first knives was sold to me by Renzo Beltrame. He had a knife up for auction and I forgot to bid on it. So, I sent him an email and I was able to purchase the knife from him. He said he came from his collection. It was made for the German market with a 5 inch handle and a 3 inch blade. I still have the knife. I'll post a photo of it later.

Thanks John ,lovely condition what maker is this one,i like the black scales it seems to make the blade look longer i have a kissing cranes green pearlex example ,its a bit nicer finished than the white one ,the scales are slimmed down slightly more than the branner and it looks older, with patination on the bolsters and button.

The first one is Indian.
The second is a Presto MK2 paratrooper knife.
What else do you want to know?

Is the Presto particularly collectible? It belongs to a friend.

Lovely little knife ,I particularly love the scales and the patent dates.
When does the Presto date from ?How rare Bill?
I have only seen a few Indian made knives on dealers sites.
Thanks for posting Genghis, never seen a Presto before.
