So I bought a knife lot locally.....

..... and it was an 80s time-capsule collection. They even kept some of the original boxes, many from Edge.

It is all in "as new" condition except the Hammer Brand switchblade -

I see a couple of interest. Bill D was just saying he wanted one of those Russians, and if that all metal OTF is an Othello it should fetch a couple hundred.

My bet is that the all-metal gravity is a Taiwanese "Eagle" copy of the Wingen Othello.
The sword umbrella is cool. I carry one in my car.

Everything in the group was purchased in the 80s according to the seller. The majority purchased mail-order from ads in the back of Soldier of Fortune, Knife World, Guns & Ammo, etc. A few were purchased at knife shows as well. What struck me about the group is I probably considered buying nearly everything at the same time in the 80s. This was a total nostalgia blast.

Last week my regular umbrella was disemboweled in the wind. This one is a very good umbrella and now its replacement.

I'm diggin' the Kissing Cranes and hard to tell but second pic upper right corner looks like a Fairbairn–Sykes and two Gerber boot knives.
Really like the Gerbers if they are indeed Gerber.

Great score, the 80's were terrible car and trucks industry (Ford Grenada/Dodge Colt & K) but a good decade for knives, seems to be the last of the quality Japanese knives, seems most went to China soon after and the German made Puma's were still high quality in the 80's but that soon changed.
Cheap knives like United,Frost,Parker and a few others were made in Japan back then but again that quickly changed.

Third pic- What are the two butterfly knives in the bottom right corner?

The boot knives are a Gerber Blackie Collins and a Kershaw Special Agent. The large one is an Al Mar Applegate-Fairbairn. The Fairbairn-Sykes is English made but 80's vintage not wartime. All of these are dead mint. The polish on the Al Mar & Kershaw is spectacular. The Kissing Cranes are German made. One butterfly is a Taylor Manilla Folder and the other is a Valor Japan. If I recall my butterfly lore correctly, the Taylor M-F was one of the first commercial butterfly knives sold in the USA. The 2 gold pens are a Taylor Master butterfly, there is a small Benchmade that goes with the pouch, and the black skeleton one is an Edge Co. with Benchmade logo on it. There is also a Guardfather spike in sterling silver!

I agree mostly on the 80s although it also ushered in the rebirth of the musclecar. Tame to the point of lame now, the '82 Mustang GT was an about face on the craptastic 70s offerings with GM not far behind. Three years later I had an '85 5.0. That model dead stock was clocked at 139MPH by Car & Driver. Under $12K, it could turn corners too. And the Japanese bikes then? Fuggedaboutit!

According to Bill D. no KC stilettos were ever made in Germany, all Chinese made and imported for German market.
