Maltese Facons!

Post by krakenten »

Nobody seems much enthused by the new lockback and Maltese knives from SKM, but I'll tell you, these are classics in waiting.

They're hefty, true, but now that some of the new model blues(like major banana blade?) are under control, these are going to be big. I just got a pail of the Maltese lockbacks from Stu(in my beloved staghorn scales), and these are grand.

They open quickly, but not violently. I get the feeling that the blade is going to go into place no matter what! The closing is one quiet click.

The stag scales are very nice, and the safety works just fine. The blade is sharp, and crisply ground thick enough to be sturdy\, but not too thick to sharpen well.

Not a bad outdoor knife-you could skin something with it, if you had to(though this is not a primary skinning knife.)

Did I mention it was quite pretty? It is, look for this one in the movies.

I like them!

Go unto Stu's website, and ye shall be gratified!

English translation, there are pics.

And while you're there, you can actually buy one, which is good for the hobby, and so very nice for Stu!

There are several scales on offer.

Enjoy! 8)

The SKM threw me off. They may sell them but the stamps are AGA Campolin. Yes these are very nice I just haven't been able to buy any new knives for a long time but one of these are high on my list.
Still want an AGA Siciliano and one of the new levers by Due Buoi.

My error-I got mine from Stu's site, and didn't double check.

Sorry for the confusion. There is a very crisp picture of the knife on Stu's site.

Where you might get one in Europe is a mystery to me-sorry!

What you guys don't know Stu???!!!! ...lol...He was years back the cheapest dealer bar none for his items. No one had as good prices, but now it seems he is more of a wholesaler to dealers and his listed prices often reflect more of the "suggested retail" price. I think he may deal off line on some items....He is a great guy and on the good guys list, but he did change his pricing model a few years back...

here is the good guys list!

Stu is a great guy, and doing business with him is a pleasure.

If he's a dollar or two higher than some other site, the fact that you'll actually get what you ordered counts for a lot.

Besides, I like him.

I used to do a LOT of business with Stu (back when he was still shipping to "Commie Central") and he is "Top Notch!" He had good prices and mos' excellent Customer Service.

That said, the guys are right about his prices now - I just checked on his LIGHTNINGS and they are priced 25% higher than BladePlay. Quite a stiff little mark-up...

Perhaps.

But although Bladeplay is a very good company, you still have to to perjure yourself to buy a knife from them.

I doubt they just thought this up, all of a sudden-I'd guess the Feds or a State agency made them impose said requirement. Now, they sell a butt-load of knives, so why worry?

Because in this age of computers, the Feds might just decide to squeeze a few people, just to show how powerful they are.

No, I think I'll pass. And stick by Stu, 'cause he treats me right.

It's only money, guys.
