Curio Cabinet

Post by JerrBear »

I just ordered a curio cabinet approximately 71" X 24" X 12" to display some of my switchblades and keep them dust-free. I should receive it early next month.
I plan to put a silica gel canister in it to protect against moisture - Is there anything else I need to know?
Thanking you in advance.

Northern Cal ha s a great climate to store and display your knives. As a matter of fact you happen to be in luck! I'm having a great storage introductory offer.... first 10 years free. :)
Just make sure you wipe the knives down real good prior to mounting them.

Jer,

Does it have a glass face to display them? I've been looking into something similar myself. However, my collection is not large enough yet to warrant a full curio cabinet. I'm thinking more along the lines of a wood display case 36"x16"x3" with a glass front that easily mounted/removed on the wall. Perhaps one could insert a picture of the same dimensions in behind the glass during times one wishes to conceal the display contents. Where would someone find such a thing?
I'm interested to know if any of you experts out there have gone to any measures to display there treasures?

Mr. Dan-o,

Thank you for your mos' gracious offer, but I must decline - I'm thinking more in terms of long-term storage and 10 years just don't cut it!

Mr. mr_edge,

Cabinet is glass all around except for the frame, which is wood.

Do an internet search on "curio cabinets." I'm pretty sure I saw what you are talking about, but I don't remember the address or the company.

My wife bought me this kind of neat thing. a table maybe 18" wide and around 4 feet long. It has a glass top and the knives go inside. Kind of a display coffee table. Pretty neat, and you can cover it with a runner for security when you don't want to look at them

hollowdweller,

That seems to be a great way to store / display a collection.

Greetings, Mr. Dan-O-

I took a poll of the legions here within me, and we all agreed that you must ditch the paste boy cartoon, and immediately resume broadcast of our favorite traditional big hat machine gun pal.

AS ever,

your ol' pal,

Wally J. Corpse

P.S. I mean it, and where do you want you want you want me to send my collection?????
