I think one of the worst cuts I have seen was from an exacto knife. This kid was trying to get his exacto from another kid, who had the knife firmly clenched by the handle in his fist. The owner then grabbed for the knife and grasping what little of the handle he could tried to pull it from the kids fist. Instead he ran the palm of his hand along that blade. It sliced him from his index finger (inside)knuckle to his pinkey and all the way to the bone. He was amazed and a little in shock because he then bent his fingers back to see the wound exposing bone and squirting blood every where.
The worst injury... In Jr. high two friends were playing catch with a pipe bomb made from a co2 cartridge, shotgun powder and strike anywhere match heads(fuse), They were using baseball glove to catch it. The thing bounced off the gym wall, then Mike caught it and may have escaped serious injury if he had not brought his other hand to the mit. He lost his thumb and all his fingers. It looked just like the movies, just a huge red cloud. We looked for the detached digits, we only found two, that day, the first we found quite a ways away from the scene the other took us a while... We did find the third a few days later (actually the janitor found it) stuck high up on the gym wall. The smell disclosed it's hiding place.

They were able to put part of his index finger and thumb back on. The middle finger was only to the first knuckle.
