That is just a beautiful switchblade. 8)
It has stunning horn and is in remarkably good condition overall ,someone has treasured it before yourself.
Thanks for the photos it brightened up a rainy morning in England.

Take care and good luck at the shop next time.

gravknife- Thank you, Sir! Part of the fun of this hobby is sharing our treasures with fellow collectors who can appreciate them. And I agree with you that this baby was indeed well cared for before I acquired it. Glad to hear that it brightened up your day! :D Cheers! -Tom

Thanks! The first place I ever posted about a knife was in this forum. I'm going to post something else I just got.

Actually that red dot looks like the painted on variety. Never clean it. It doesn't need a thing.

Thank you for posting a photo of the knife.

The cream colored scales are gorgeous and they bring the value up even more.

You have a Real Gem on your hands!

When you get a chance, can you post a photo of the knife in open position, so that we can see the kris blade?

And Orangeboy is right on...Do Not clean the knife. The patina on the nickel silver bolsters is what many collectors prefer....just in case you ever decide to sell it down the line.

Definitely not painted on. I inspected it with a magnifying glass. It is a plastic insert set into a hole. The color goes right down to the bottom. Appears to have had the saftey slit cut into it after insertion. The scales have a dark amber layer nearer the brass side plates that accually are a bit opaque. Still trying to get a few more good pics to share.

I was thinking the scales were ivory at first. But after closer inspection I do believe they are horn.

Here it is. Wow, it looks like it was made on the bench the same day as mine!

I actually like the grind of the Coricama made kris blades better than the Latama style.

Thanks for finding the pic. I do have others. Waiting to get some kid to help me post them. I do have one other one. It is a rostfrie or something like that. A guy gave it to me years ago. 13 inch long with pearl scales. Seems to be much more modern. He's a big chip on one of the scales and some idiot tried to sharpen it. Still pretty cool though.
