Wild knife. Is that a single action OTF with bottom cooker. If not, then what.BTB0923 wrote:No I haven't, but I found some more great close-up shots...JimBrown257 wrote:Great knife. Does anyone actually have one, or at least seen one up close?

11" batwing swingguard design about 90% complete. Will post in a day or two.

Re: A new Maniago
Here's the requested 11" Batwing swinger. If Maniago doesn't want to take it on, perhaps one of the builders will. Before attempting to build, you should email me with your snail mail address so that I can send you accurate full sized templates. This will make it much easier to create parts that fit correctly.
I did not detail a safety or button return leaf spring, but here it is. I was thinking of a more modern piece, not so much a traditional Italian stiletto, so I did something different with the handle.
Length 11" with blade 4mm X 5-1/16 (including swingguards) X 5/8" wide. Widest point of handle 3/4", straight back, slight angle on blade side, .79" thick (based on 5/32" blade and .06" liners. Tip to tip on swingguard approx. 2".
You'll note that mine is an exposed rocker, lockback, one piece spring.
Open it looks like this:
Closed, it looks like this:

Re: A new Maniago
Well, I got tired of waiting for new stuff and I had ideas for what I wanted to see ... so I just did it myself. They can either embrace the suggestions, or I will go around them. I have maybe a dozen designs complete, typically 13's. JimBrown257 already tried one. Also I've been approached about making one of this design.sammy the blade wrote:Good luck with Maniago building it

Jeremy et al:
Photobucket is acting up again, I had to attach pictures instead of linking to them.
I drew this one up, same "Toledo" type back spring. It's a BOBC 13-1/8" more in the Italian vein. The biggest difficulty with this will be getting the sear holes positioned accurately. The knife rotates 180° to close and measures 5/8" at the ricasso, 6" x 4mm blade. The handle is 1-3/16" wide at the ears. I think it would look good as a flat guard. I planned for .06 stainless liners and 3/16" scales bringing the overall thickness to .656". It's about .659" at the fan or the swell in the handle.
I drew this as an exposed rocker also made from 5/32" material.
It uses a sturdy rectangular sear and the sear holes are exactly at 9:00 and 3:00, but offset to be on center with the handle. All pins including the stop pin are 3/32", the pivot is 5/32". Since it closes so deep, I added a thumb notch to facilitate the process. I didn't draw a button return spring as I know you prefer to work those out, also same for safety if desired.
Comments or questions?

Re: A new Maniago
That's a pretty cool design. Having that inside pin at the top is a good idea. I'm going to put this one in my list of to-dos.
What's the deal with the indentation on the lower handle?

This thread is 4 1/2 years old so I don't see Maniago making any progress?

Hello all!
The original idea, which spawned this topic, was abandoned.
However, there are people wishing to make new knives year, so all ideas are still good to see.
