How do you really pronounce his name?

Is it Bel-trah-may or Bel-traim?

My Italian is nonexistent.

I would imagine there's emphasis on the second syllable, so it would be Bel-trah'-may.

When I was a kid my best friend got pelted with tomatoes one time and he was called 'Seeds' for the rest of his life. I think nicknames are really cool.

I've had people tell me it's "Bel-traw-may" but I still read it as (and think of it as) bell-tram

Fish was a soldier in the Balistrieri family in Milwaukee in the 1970's. He was always involved in petty heists (like cases of shoes) that didn't amount to anything. He was in his early 60's at that time, though, so he knew a lot of the bigger name guys from the 30's and 40's.

I never thought to ask what knife he carried, though.

Not exactly...the pronounce of "me" is different in Italian because the last letter "e" is not pronounced as in English "i" but is similar to the sound of the world "e-lementary" or, for instance, when you say the word "me-dicine"

Well, now, that's where the confusion comes in.

In english, letters sounding like "i" are pronounced as in "eye".

I believe it might be best to say in this case the "e" is silent with a a little emphasis on the "m".
Kind of like "ema" but without fully pronouncing the "a".
