Well I used the August 24th Missouri deadline to inspire myself in to my next two aquisitions.
I purchased a Walt/Frank B. 9" limited edition 5MM stiletto, and an AGA Campolin 9" lockback in micarta, with a dagger blade.

Thought I had better grab those now, while I can!

Follow up:
I attended a meeting on Grassroots Campaigning at the NRA Annual Meeting here in St. Louis this morning. Missouri Lt. Governor Peter Kinder spoke at the meeting as well several Missouri State Legislators. I pulled a state senator aside to ask him what could be done about the loss of the exclusion to the Missouri switchblade law for collecting. The whole group including Lt. Gov. Kinder followed me out of the room and all of them proceeded to explain to me that not only would the situation soon be fixed for collectors but also the law was in the process of being changed to allow the carry of automatic knives in Missouri! :o 8) Since both Missouri Houses are about 2/3 Republican I expect the changes to pass but the question is whether our Democratic governor will sign it.

If you love your knives and guns, the election this fall is absolutely critical. While Obama has remained quiet on these issues, we know that in the past he has been a strong gun control advocate. He has left the gun control issues up to Attorney General Holder and others in the administration. If he is re-elected, as he indicated in his open mic aside to Putin, he is free to to go after his agendas. You better believe that he and Holder would go after restrictions on knives as well! FIRE OBAMA IN 2012!
The only thing I take seriously in life is death but I haven't gotten there yet!Image

Isn't it sad how so many of these horrific bills make it into law? The worst of it is that we all, including the elected officials(so they say), never seem to know all the particulars until after it becomes another law of the land. I know, for sure, that we are still the home of the brave. The part that I am very worried about is, are we still the land of the free?

P.S. We had all better watch out for obamacare, and I don't mean maybe. I LOVE OUR COUNTRY, AND I KNOW YOU ALL DO TOO. NEVER SIT HOME ON ELECTION DAY, NEVER.

Thank you Java for the update. As a fellow Missourian I can only hope and pray this man will never have another word to say about anything to do with American politics again after 2012.
Never in my wildest dreams would I suspect Missouri as being a democratic state with all the knife and gun lovers that live here.
My only theory is that perhaps Missourians are fat and lazy and don't get off their duff's long enough to go out and vote.

Missouri is a big College state with thousands of youthful, brainwashed "Socialist-Minded" students from all walks of life attending our colleges and therefore voting while a resident of Missouri.
Otherwise I see no other reason Missouri would allow such laws.
My question is one I asked when this was first mentioned- "What the hell brought this switchblade subject up in the first place?"
I mean it has been a dormant subject for eons and suddenly it's dug-up from it's grave?
With all the crap going on in the universe some jack-ass brought this subject out from it's sleep and made it a "issue"?
Is the O-Man so hard up he has a full-time crew digging for skeletons state from state?
Korea and Iran are going nuke on us and he is dicking around with petty crap like this....perhaps not him,but his Lib *ss-kissers :?:
You are well informed Java, enlighten me on this if you will.

America is run by other powerful forces, the president is just a front man

It doesn't matter which puppet you vote for, the politics will be essentially the same

This goes for much of the rest of the western world as well by the way

But this isn't a politics forum so I'll say no more :|

Good to hear the update on your law there and I hope the law gets changed and signed! All the better that it will allow carry too! Does the law right now ban possession in your house too or just carry in public?

That is indeed good news and as far as the recent ban, I think the collector exemption was jut not put back in there when they rewrote the gun and knife law so perhaps it was accidental?

I must say a big thank you to Jason Bourne and his views on the western part of the world. That being said, the point I was making is that pork and agendas are hidden in bills that become laws here in the U.S.A. Once it is a law, the hidden agendas can turn out to be an ignorant law to make switchblade owners criminals. Isn't that what we were discussing about Missouri? Yes we were. I know that this is not a political forum, Jason Bourne. I was adding my view point to the topic at hand. I'm not a socialist, I'm a free man, and always will be. Thank you for your attention. I sure would like to hear any opinions from free men, like myself, concerning our government trying to take away even the right to carry a regular pocketknife. That, to, is on the agenda of our leaders. Correct?

Sometimes things that get hidden in larger spending bills benefit the good guys too. The commies in customs were wanting to ban all one-handed knives, but then knife rights organizations managed to add a rider onto a spending bill that exempted assisted openers from the stupid switchblade law.

OK, I want to quickly comment here on this new switchblade law in Missouri that you are referring too: Don't worry about it. Most of the people who own switchblades in states where you aren't allowed to even OWN them are in violation of "the law." This has already be established. Remember...a "law" is a written statement that was once a "bill." Before it became a "bill," it was an idea in someones mind. That person who dug up this existing law and tweaked it a bit to become stricter is in no way better than you or anyone. If you aren't hurting anyone with it or letting tons of untrustworthy people know you have them, then there is nothing to worry about. I know it's frustrating and it sucks, but just remember...if left in your house, no "bad" will ever come of it because all the law is, is a statement that invokes fear into innocent, good people in this case and thus, being a good "law abiding citizen" getting rid of your knives because they're illegal. God knows if they ever made switchblades illegal again in NH and they told us to get rid of them, I'd NEVER do it. I live in NH where it is 100% legal to own, carry, buy & sell ANY knife as of May 18th 2010 including switchblades, dirks, daggers & stilettos. Before that date, they were illegal. But nothing bad ever happened to me or anyone that I know of from owning one when they were illegal. The best thing to do here is to not worry about it and remember this: These "lawmakers" are humans just like all of us on this board. They put there pants on every morning just like all of us. They work out of a man made system surrounded by man made laws. They are nobody special and above us in any way. Enjoy your knives in your home where they are safe!! Think of it this way. You can't carry them, so you know that they'll always be safe. They'll be safe inside your house. I hope that this eases some minds.

P.S. No Victim = No Crime!!

I see your point but if you live in a state where they were once legal for collectors and now, they are totally banned, that would be upsetting. This may not seem a big deal for folks who live in states where they are banned, but if you are used to living in a state where they are legal to own and sell, it would be very upsetting if they suddenly, and without notice, became illegal. Plus, what if your collection is stolen? If you live in a state that bans switchblades, you would be in a very awkward situation, and even if you collection was recovered, it would probably go to the smelter. Every collector should also have a good safe.

I can't believe I am saying this but I would rather take a sledge hammer my knives than see the cops take them only to know my hard earned money and years of collecting ends up in the hands of someone else.
You darn well know they wouldn't sit on a shelf somewhere for the rest of eternity nor would they be destroyed in the name of justice.

Well, if they suddenly became illegal over night, like you said, I honestly wouldn't care about it. My days of worrying about that sort of thing are over. Remember...this is just how I personally feel towards a situation like this, especially involving knives.

News Reporter outside of State Capital building: "Today congressman _______ and the house, passed a bill that would make owning automatic knives illegal and a misdemeanor! More as the story unfolds....back to you, Jim, in the studio"

Me: It's Monday.

Folks, here's my point: Don't worry about LAW. I, myself worry about right and wrong. Unless you are actually harming someone, then there's nothing to worry about. Weather you are a licensed collector or not a licensed collector or this or that or "well the law allows it if it's a certain temperature outside or blah bla bla...doesn't matter. Don't let man made laws...BAD man made laws interfere with your natural human rights as a human being. I've felt this way for a good number of years now, and it lifts and enormous weight off my shoulders. I believe in organic law...natural law...not so much man made laws. Restrictions on things like pocket knives do nothing but hurt and make good happy people, unhappy. And yes...I'd get a safe and lock em up too! :D I say this to everyone who is in fear of stuff like this happening. And if by any chance getting rid of such knives eases your mind...then go with what works best for yourself..not a lawmaker. Do what makes YOU happy!! Hope I helped.

Agree with the last three posts, and especially yours, Viking. I have often said that if they ban firearms I would destroy them myself before I surrendered them, and the same goes for my knives. The end result would be the same, but at least I would not suffer the humiliation of surrendering my collection.
