Benchmite leaf spring

Post by Deacon »

Hi everyone,
I am looking for two back springs to replace the stock back spacers in my benchmade H-D Levitators. (I have an Auto-Benchmite and love it.)

Does anyone know where I can buy these springs, or does anyone know where I can buy a Benchmite clone.

Thank you,

Deacon

This website has a nice selection at very reasonable prices.
If you don't know what size then take yours out and measure it,usually when a coil spring breaks it is the end part with the "L-shaped" bend. (whatever it's called)
I hope this helps. Keep us informed on your progress.

Thanks, Viking, for the input. Unfortunately, they didn't have the correct leaf spring listed on their site. I sent them an E-mail, though...

Oh sorry about that- I just caught the "Benchmade" and assumed coil

You did the best thing by contacting BM directly.

There is (or at least there used to be) an Ebay seller that sells the clones for cheap. I bought a few a while back, removed the springs, and converted a couple of manual Benchmites to auto. I'll do some research and see if I can find some contact info. I only remember that he had them listed as Benchmite springs, but he actually sent the whole knife.

Edit: as of September 17 ebay seller "Knifecorner" still had Benchmite springs. I had inquired about them for a friend. You may want to contact him and see if he still has them. I can't remember what I paid for them, but it wasn't much.

The clones are nowhere near the knife that the Benchmade is, but the spring from the clone fits the Benchmade perfectly with no modification.

As a matter of fact, on the clones I bought, the levitator button bent after opening and closing it a few times before I took it apart to get the spring out of it.

And, I just remembered, there are spacers on either side of the spring when you disassemble the clone. I tried installing the spring on the Benchmade with and without those spacers, and the Benchmade seems to fire more reliably with the spacers installed.

Thanks again, guys, for your help.

I have resolved myself to looking for a knock-off/clone of the Benchmite. I just can't find any!

Any pointers on who has them??

Is the knifecorner guy on ebay out of them?

He's the only one I could find when I was looking for them.

I also used a clone to donate the front scale for my Benchmite. After a trip to Benchmade with no help, this piece fit perfectly with no modification. Don't remeber where I got the donor. It was less than the shipping to and from Benchmade. Good luck. Taz
