They look eerily similar :?: Wonder what Mr. Tanto has to say?

Holy sh*t, can they really do that? In a legal sense I mean? You would think Mikov has some kind of patent on that design.

Wow.... It looks like a Mikov to me. Could Microtech get in trouble for copyright infringements.
Also is this knife a prototype or is it in production right now? Do you know what it goes for $$, I figure since it is from Microtech,
it's 3 or 4 x the cost of a Mikov. The more I think about it.... Buying one of these would be like buying a knockoff of someone else's design,
and we all frown upon that. Just MHO.

Ya know it sucks, but I'm thinking that since Mikov isn't an American company the laws may not apply.

EXACTLY, they are gonna catch sh*t for this I guarantee. You have to give them credit for some of the innovative modern otf designs they have produced. You can't argue that Microtech quality has been unsurpassed in the otf knife design market at least. Makes you wonder why the hell they would have the need (or greed more likely) to start stealing design ideas from other companies.

I certainly hope Mr. Tanto has had some authority on this design.

Shouldn't we wait until we hear from Mr. Tanto before making any accusations, condemnations and assumptions?

The Mikov design has been in production long enough that there are no copyright infringements-if there ever was a copyright.
It is in seriously bad taste though.

I have just sent link to Mikov and will see what they need to say. I think the design is not protected (I have seen Mikov clones before) but as BTB0923 said, why would MT needed to steal ideas...

On a second thought - I think I should buy one, send it to Mikov and have them make exactly the same knives (hopefully cheaper)... I have been pushing them for years to build something like that...

I can say this here ( I have on bladeforums and been attacked), but all the USA makers have copied Italian/German designs with the high end OTFs, so I am not surprised they would do the same here. I am sure it is not a protected design now ( if it ever was) and the USA makers are smart enough to realise these are all time tested designs that can be upgraded with better materials. Of course the snobs at the other forrums will now all say the Mikovs are POSs and the Micros are the only way to go......

You have a point. Although i think Italian Stilettos, OTFs, have a fairly generic design amongst multiple brands. Mikovs, like them or dislike them, are more instantly recognisable.
It's a bit of a grey area at best, and people some get annoyed when somebody puts out a knife design 'inspired' by another one.. there are only so many ways a knife can be designed.
