Who made it?

Post by crunch »

:?: I have been looking at Blade Auction lately and see autos listed as Beltrame, F. Beltrame, Italian etc. Is there any way to tell who really made a knife? :?:

AB/SKM, the AB is Armando Beltrame [Switchblades]
F'lli Beltrame= Fratelli Beltrame [Beltrame Brothers] owned by Francesco
[Frank] Beltrame [Switchblades]
Ausonia Nanutti Beltrame [Lots of Pocket Knives, Hunting Knives, Dive Knives, Machetes, Thermos, Flasks, Binoculars, Mult-tools. Display Case, Carbon Steel Knives, Key Chains, and some Switchblades] Very few Switchblades. Imitation Horn Stilletos only, in their catalog.
And one or two others that make kitchen knives and table knives.
Also I've probably missed some.
I hope this adds to the confusion.

Thanks for the info, but perhaps I should rephrase my question. Are there any markings or telltale construction techniques that one could look for to determine who made a particular knife?
