New campolin hunter
http://www.bladeplay.com/item--Dark-Hor ... fe-w--5311 This is the link to them.I like them.I ordered me one of them.Let me know what you think. As soon as it arrives i will post a review.
Re: New campolin hunter
Already have one-got it from Stu.
Review? Big. Heavy. Thick. Sturdy.
This is a ring pull knife, but the pattern suggests the 11'' Buck Knife Clones of yesteryear. The ring pull is a trifle reluctant for closing the knife, which may solve itself with time, and certainly presents little difficulty.
The blade is about 5'' long, thick and very sharp. The stag scales on my example are very, very nice, full, dark and gripable, little shaving has been done.
The action is slower than some, after all that's some serious iron to move, but opening is sure, lockup solid, the entire knife seems made to last.
I speeded mine up quite a bit by rubbing a lead pencil here and there, to provide dry lube, and after a failed opening on the first try, the knife has worked flawlessly, since. Safety works, too, it's very positive in its action
This knife is a big ugly bastid, one you won't carry unless you have work for it, but if you have that work, this one will do it.
Far too nice a piece to just lie in a drawer, mine is going to be used, limited edition be damned.

Re: New campolin hunter
It's a very substantial piece, as fine a job as I've seen in a while.
Again, it's too good not to use!

Are the Cocobolo scales worth $30 buck dollars more than the horn?

I guess if you want them, bad enough, they areJerrBear wrote:Are the Cocobolo scales worth $30 buck dollars more than the horn?
Despite it's limitations, I like Briarwood. Even though I KNOW that hidden imperfections may, someday, lead to problems and it costs more than Horn [Which I also like]

Let me answer my ownself question - NO! No, they are not worth it! North Coast Knives is selling cocobolo scales for cheaper than the dark horn scales...JerrBear wrote:Are the Cocobolo scales worth $30 buck dollars more than the horn?
Of course, cocobolo could be harder to work with, but not THAT much harder...
