How much does his kits cost and is there any hidden fees such as import fees or whatever?butch wrote:yup,Ive bought a few from David, hes a great person to deal with.
Re: Let's make a Mikov
Price of his kits depend on what type of kit you buy the only charge is the cost of the kits plus the shipping,I cant give you an exact quote on shipping costs youll need to ask David or check his site. www.mikovknives.com

Re: Let's make a Mikov
I'm not ready to try a kit yet but after watching all that I decided that I had to add a Mikov to my collection. I just ordered one in Turkish Walnut with the rear bolster and filework from David. One of these days I'll try a Mikov or leverletto kit.

Thanks Jeff...And everyone else
I can understand not wanting to muck up the backspring on your new mikov kit.
If you want to practice and learn (inexpensively), this is what I did:
Check around places like here...
.
http://theknifeauction.com/browse.php?i ... 235448bf19
.
and buy a couple $10 stiletto's, take them apart carefully, practice filing the backspring and put it back together. It's cheap entertainment for 10 bucks and you also get practice assembling the knife. You'll need new pins. It's easiest just to make your own..start with brass rod a little thicker than the holes, put it in a drill and squeeze sandpaper on it until it turns down to the right size.

Re: Let's make a Mikov
If you file a backspring [or kickspring] be sure to "mirror polish it afterwards ANY roughness [even almost microscopic] is TROUBLE, that already knows, where to happen
Re: Let's make a Mikov
the way I learned was by practicing on a cheap set of square shanked screw drivers,I learned how to do it and had cheap but fancy screw drivers.
