Microtech LCC D/A

I just got this knife and it's so nice. Has anybody got any tips on how to open one of these things without destroying your thumb?

They tend to break in over time. Plus your thumb gets tougher. Plus you get a better technique.

Bill is right that it is easier and about as fast ( though not as cool) to open manually.

Mr. Roccomo,
The others are correct; for me it was mostly getting the technique down. Now it's a piece of cake. I like my D/A so much I decide to get a M/A and it is now in my edc rotation. Enjoy!

There's a topic. How many of us do carry different ones from day to day :?: And do you carry more than one :?: Finally what percentage autos vs manuals :?:

Roco
Find the sweetspot on the bolster. When the time comes and you think somethings wrong cause when it opens it comes out about a quarter of the way flush it out with WD-40 and it will be good as new. I find I use the thumbstud more then the spring. I love that knife it's built like a tank.

If it's anything like the ATCF the sweet spot is going to be close to the break line between the bolster and the scales, just forward of the line.

Anymore, I'm carrying the same satin plain-edge Vector every day for the 'user'.

To be honest, the best opening method IMO on the LCC D/A is manually. However I have no problem firing one via the scale, with my right thumb or left index finger.

Roc,

I had the same problem. I tried every lubricant available and the one that worked best was Carmex For Dry Lips!
Put a little dab of the stuff on the spring release tab and keep working it.
I heard from a MicroTech dealer that some MT factory employees have actually quit their jobs because of sore thumbs from testing LCCs.
I collect springblades but I carry my "thumbers."

I usually rotate between my LUDT and UT6 lately. Hubie Camper if hiking or camping or going to a party. LCC/DA if I am going to a potentially legally unfriendly state.

Falcons right make it a poll between manual and auto and how much rotation. It will make for a good thread.Stick it here or on yours doesn't matter.

Thank You All for the good advice. I really like this knife and want to rotate it into my carry line-up.

And, Yes, Mr. Pushbutton, It is built like a tank. :D
