tang stamp on 11" folder

Post by porkchop »

I have this 11" folder with acrylic scales. Tang is stamped "SAB" and "Italy". Anybody ever heard or know anything about this stamp?

I don't know how accurate the info is in the description of this bayonet regarding SAB, but here's the link- https://www.bbmilitaria.com/product/t18 ... nt-company

What it says is, there was a company named "Service Armament Company" located in Ridgefield, New Jersey that started importing bayonets from Japan. But someone in Japan screwed up, and instead of marking the bayonets "SAC" they marked them "SAB".

I have seen several knives marked "SAB" and "Japan", and I have seen knives marked "SAB" with "Ridgefield NJ", and I have seen knives marked "SAB", with "Ridgefield NJ", and "Japan". So I'm inclined to believe the knives marked "SAB" are in fact from SAC importers in Ridgefield, New Jersey.

The combination of "SAB" and Ridgefield, NJ, and the connection to Japan would be a hell of a coincidence if they aren't the same company.

Perhaps SAC/SAB also imported knives from Italy.
